Help 50 Maasai girls get education, not husbands

Last year a heartbreaking incident took place in our neighborhood when a 14 year old girl attempted suicide because she has been out of school for two terms for lack of school fees.  Ann drank poison to die because without education, her life would be meaningless.  Fortunately, quick action by relatives managed to rush her to hospital in time for medics to save her life.

Today, Ann is a normal 15 year old enrolled in class 8 at AIC Girls Primary School in Kajiado where she is preparing for her end of year examinations to proceed to high school.  She is maintaining good grades and her zeal for education remains high because she want to become a lawyer.

At the beginning of 2018, Ann received Nenkashe Education Centre sponsorship to ensure that she will finish primary and secondary school.  Ann is receiving counseling and mentorship from Nenkashe’s social workers and her teachers are ensuring she receives a good formal education.  The future now looks bright for Ann at this point in her life.

In addition to giving counseling and mentorship support to 34 older children, Nenkashe Education Centre has a growing Early Childhood Education (ECD) program where 28 pre-school age children are currently being prepared for entry into primary schools. 

Our services now reach 62 children in total and we cherish your continued support as we work to prepare children for a better life.

During this Easter month, we draw your attention to GlobalGiving Foundation’s five-day Little by Little Matching Campaign which will run from April 9 - 13, 2018. During this one week, GlobalGiving will match donations up to $50 at 50% with $50,000 in matching funds. 

There will be an additional 100% match for recurring donations and $3,000 in bonus prizes for projects that raise the most funds from their donors.
