In a few short months, the FACES Surgical Team will return to Northern Peru for our 17th cleft campaign. The team of surgeons, nurses, and speech language pathologists provide comprehensive cleft care to impoverished Peruvians and provide education and training to the local medical community.
The FACES Foundation is happy to report that things are on schedule in the planning of a Cleft Surgical Campaign to Northern Peru in January 2026. At this stage of the project, the following stakeholders have been confirmed: 1) the host hospital and its providers, 2) of the local Lions Clubs, and 3) trained facial plastic surgeons, nurses, and speech language pathologists who will travel with the team. FACES is continuing fundraising efforts to secure medical supplies and accomodations for the team and the patients.
Beginning on October 25th, FACES Surgeons will host on-line evaluations for prospective surgical candidates. Over a series of 4 weeks, families will meet with surgeons and speech therapists in a telehealth environment. These families have been referred to the campaign by the host hospital and other regional social workers. After evaluations are completed, the FACES team will create a surgical schedule to share with the host hospital, ensuring that all prospective patients receive appropriate pre-surgical exams.
We appreciate the support of so many generous individuals who make these campaigns possible. Thank you for cheering us on!
