Dear FACES Friends,
We are happy to share that FACES is advancing with the preparations for the January 2026 Surgical Campaign to northern Peru.
Cleft care goes beyond surgery alone. Throughout the year, we work together to address the challenges faced by our patients. Many of the families we serve express concern regarding their son or daughter's self-esteem and social assimilation post-surgery. This year, FACES connected with a wonderful humanitarian, Maestra P.
Ms. P.is a bilingual educator and family therapist who lives in Lima. She learned of the FACES campaign through family members who work at the Hospital in Lambayeque. Touched by the impact of the work, she volunteered to help.
With Ms. P's expertise, FACES has hosted three webinars to aid parents of children who've received cleft surgeries, and to aid adolescents who've been patients themselves. Indeed, all of us benefit from a listening ear and a professional's perspective.
