Thanks to your support we have been able to retain in-country counsel to provide key support for our efforts to negotiate a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Myanmar government. This MOU will allow us to gain critical information that will help us figure out how best to support elephant conservation efforts in the country. Myanmar is a difficult and challenging environment to work given they are still establishing the foundation of a free and democratic society - but we are making progress.
It will take time to finalize this complicated agreement but in the interim, we will be using additional donations to provide direct support to the captive elephants and the mahouts.
