Tammy called us from a payphone in the middle of the night, barefoot, in the cold and rain. In a rage, her husband came after her with a knife. She bolted out the door and ran for her life. She had seen our website and had memorized the number, but had been too afraid to call. One of our advocates, Zeena, was able to get Tammy into a hotel for the night where she would be warm and safe. We got Tammy into a shelter in the foreign country until we will be able to get her back home.
The crisis line is a vital link to safety for victims. Donations like yours help save lives every day.
Here is a quote from Tammy: "If I hadn't have called you, I would not have known what to do. I don't speak the language here. I was so alone. I didn't think anyone cared. Knowing someone believed me made me feel so much better."
Thank you so much for your donation and for your belief in our mission.
