Fireworks are Right Around The Corner

By Shawn J. Gourley | Project Leader

Can you believe the 4th of July is only a little less than 4 short months away?

Neither can we!

And around this time of year is when Military with PTSD is the busiest. Fireworks can have dreadful effects on veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

But thanks to you, this year we all can help make a difference.

We are still receiving messages from veterans saying things like, "Vietnam Vet, 1968/69 Thank you for all you do and I would love a sign," and "It's so nice to see I'm not the only one who struggles this time of year."

Or we get messages from spouses saying, "I am grateful for Organizations like this one. My husband really has a difficult time with fireworks every year. He has been told time and again that it gets easier however it does not, not for him," and "Great idea. Fireworks alone have sent my husband back into a psych unit. He thought he was being shot and slipped into an altered reality. It’s scary for him and those around him."

And those are just a few of the request we are receiving for signs this year. We are headed to the printing shop in the next two months to get all the signs printed and shipped out to everyone who has requested a firework sign.

At that time we will be able to show you exactly what you have helped with. We will be including photographs of the signs, some of veterans with their sign, and exactly what the veterans and their family members are saying!
