The Threads of Success

During these three months, the project was driven for its success among different instances and places:

  • The project was shared to the indigenous government, in order to implement and engage other women from other villages, as part of its scalability.
  • Opening of a store in the facilities of the indigenous government.
  • New handcraft items such as sandals and hair buckles, as product of the knowledge sharing among weavers. Moreover, the implementation of traditional elements made with palm leaf such as fishing nets, hammocks, baskets and mats.
  • Promotion through Facebook and Word of Mouth of the women´s initiative to diffuse project information and show handcrafts.
  • Contacts at local level to participate in cultural fairs, and contacts in other towns to promote the handcrafts.
  • The interest of weaving among the community has increased.

In addition, one outstanding achievement to hightlight:

• We passed to count with 25 weavers, to have 76, who will be responsible to spread the learning within the            communities in the activities such as fairs, workshops and exhibitions.

Pending actions for the upcoming days:

  • The first training workshop of June will be prepared for the weavers, and the team is planning to offer it for externals as well.
  • The team is preparing two indigenous leaders to support the on-site activities.

Thank you so much for all our donors for being able to donate to this cause and for believe in the economic independence and development of women´s rights through the participation in the project.

See you soon!
