The new school year at the LAP will start on September 19th.
This school year we will have only 6 students coming from refugees families: 2 in second year and 4 in 3rd year.
Unfortunatly we will not have new students from refugees families in the first year. There are 2 main reasons. The first one comes from the lack of funds coming via GlobalGiving available for refugees to support more than 6 students at the LAP. The second one is the lack of support of UNHCR Burkina towards scholarships for the LAP for refugees / displaced families'children.
In Burkina there are around 35.000 refugees (mainly from Mali) but there are more than 1.250.000 displaced people. UNHCR has a lot of work since they are also looking after the dispalced people.
We are looking to develop economical projects at the LAP which could help us fund more refugees.
Your support is very very important to be able to support the refugees we have at the LAP and eventually to be able to take more children.
Thank you for your help.
