Dear Supporters,
Warm greetings from Sharing Seeds Organization in Nepal.
We are very happy to share an important new update that has become possible because of your generous support through GlobalGiving.
Over the past months, we have completed the construction of a new community kitchen next to our community café in Pandeli Village of Pokhara Nepal. This kitchen has been created to support the local women’s group so they can work together in a more organized, efficient, and comfortable environment to host our beloved travellers
Previously, the women used to prepare food in a small and less suitable space from one of our community member house. The new kitchen now gives them a proper place to cook, prepare local organic Nepal food, and welcome guests. It is already helping the women’s group improve their daily work and increase opportunities to earn income.
We are also excited to share that we are planning to begin Nepali cooking classes for travellers very soon. Visitors who come to our village will be able to learn how to prepare traditional Nepali dishes together with local women. We believe this will create a meaningful cultural exchange while also providing an additional source of income for the community and create more jobs to womens from our community.
In addition to the kitchen, we have also constructed two western-style toilets for travellers who visit our community. These new facilities will make the experience more comfortable and welcoming for the visitors.
The new toilets and kitchen are important steps in improving community tourism in Pandeli Village. Better facilities will help us welcome more guests, encourage longer visits, and create more opportunities for local families.
This progress became possible because of the support of our valuable donors from around the world, together with our own community tourism fund. For every visitor who comes to our community, we have set aside USD 2 per person into a separate community tourism fund. By combining your donations with this local contribution, we have been able to invest in lasting improvements that benefit the whole community.
Purchase of Electric coffee grinding machine:
Recently we also able to purchase the electric coffee grinding machine for which we are able to serve the cold and hot brew fresh organic coffee produced in our community which also helps us to improve the taste of coffee.
Harvest of Coffee
One of the major project which we run here is community based coffee project is connecting with more than 100 small farmers around entire Sarangkot village and since the establishment of our project in 2020, we have distributed the more than 1000 high quality coffee plants to the interested farmers who wants to do coffee farming. Since 3 months ago we were very busy harvesting the coffee and now its nearly to the end. With the immense potential of coffee production from next year, we are going to have our own coffee nursery where we will select the good variety of Arabica species and make a new seedling to distribute for the better production and more economy to our small coffee farmers .
This project is a beautiful example of how global support and local effort can work together.
On behalf of the women’s group, local families, and everyone at Sharing Seeds Organization, thank you for believing in our community and helping us create new opportunities.
With gratitude,
Sharing Seeds Organization Pandeli Village, Nepal
