It has been a super busy year for our organization in 2024. Although we started our day tour 4 years ago, just because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and our experience is very new and unique in the tourism market of Nepal, we have been struggling to get the right responsible tourist for our tour. The other major barrier was that our village and community were off the radar from the tourism destination of Pokhara, Nepal.
Thanks to the world-renowned Planeterra organization, whose Asia Pacific Director visited us at our Tallathar village and talked to our community about whether we are interested in hosting the breakfast experience for responsible travelers who are coming from G-adventure. After a long discussion within our community, we are happy to open our village for travelers where there was no tourism before. We are also thankful to Planeterra for helping fund our community café, which is now built in the middle of our community. From there you can see all the views of our village which is an open space café, and see what's going on inside the village.
We completed building our community café around April 2024 and with the help of Planeterra and the Community Homestay Network, Nepal, we had a fabulous training for our community, where 8 local women from the community attended this great 2-day training session. Since we are very new to community-based tourism and on top of that, we are going to work with one of the best companies in the world in the field of community-based tourism that was panic for all of us. Women from the community are very scared to host the first travelers from G-adventure who were here in our community on 30th May 2025. Luckily everything went great. We hosted a super fantastic tour on that day. Since that time and till today we have been hosting tours to our beloved travellers by cooking lovely organic food which is found and harvested from our soil. We also give the chance to taste the locally produced coffee and yummy Himalayan honey produced by Apis Cerana honey bees to travelers. Right now, we are also able to connect some of the ethical DMCs from Nepal who are also sending the day tour starting from Pokhara to our community by hiking from the base of Phewa Lake. The community women are now more confident to host the travellers and are also greatly improving their English communication skills and getting more knowledge slowly what is sustainable and Community-based tourism.
