From exciting news coverage to the announcement of two new Teens for Food Justice farm projects, this spring finds us poised to take big steps toward our goal to bring fresh food, STEM education and youth-led food justice advocacy to schools and communities in every borough of New York City.

Announcing New Manhattan and Bronx Projects
Teens for Food Justice unveiled plans for two new initiatives to expand it's hydroponic farming citywide at a special event hosted by The Cathedral of Saint John the Divine in conjunction with its Value of Food art installation on March 28.
The evening featured warm opening remarks by Barbara Turk (NYC Director of Food Policy, Office of the Deputy Mayor of Health and Human Services), student-led showcases of the hydroponic farm systems currently operating UA Unison school, and samplings of a recipe created and prepared by special guest Chef Jehangir Mehta (celebrity chef/owner of Restaurant Graffiti) using produce grown at Unison.
TFFJ's new Bronx and Manhattan partners DeWitt Clinton High School, Martin Luther King Jr. Educational Campus and Montefiore School Health Program co-hosted the event.

Our flourishing classroom farm and the fantastic work of the Unison student team recently piqued the interest of PIX11 News and Brooklyn Channel 12; both aired stories about us last month.

TFFJ at Unison: Budding student farmers, chefs, nutritionists
Middle school students in our new after-school program at UA Unison finished constructing their classroom farm, shared their first harvest, and are busy applying their energy and creativity toward developing nutrition and fitness expertise.
The team wowed their school community with expert tours of their newly-built farm in a Friday evening open house featuring farm fresh recipe tastings. Click here for some great photos of the farm and Unison student work.
