Hearing Care for Needy Children

From January through December 2025, the KEX Kids Fund helped 43 children with comprehensive hearing exams in 16 counties. We partnered with 32 audiology providers to help families in need across Oregon & SW Washington over the past year.

Your support is crucial in sustaining our program to help children access hearing care.

School nurses work closely with the school vision screening program led by the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation (OLSHF) to ensure that children who are referred for vision and hearing care receive resources such as the KEX Kids Fund.

Success Story

The KEX Kids Fund recently helped a student with new hearing aids who is now thrilled with the technology. The audiologist shared:

She has 6.5 year old hearing aids that are not working and are no longer appropriate for her hearing loss, so she’s been going without for almost 2 years. She is a high school senior and wants to start college classes in the fall. She wants to use hearing aids again because she is realizing how much she misses and how fatigued she is by the end of the day trying to keep up with instruction. Even in one-on-one conversations, she will miss what is being said. She has started to notice a social impact, as her normal hearing friends leave her out when she can’t keep up. She also started a new job and cannot hear customers over the phone.
