Dear Friends and Supporters,
We are pleased to share an update on one of the most meaningful components of our work in Guatemala—the Healthy Mothers Program. Through this initiative, we support women not only as caregivers but also as leaders, educators, and advocates for healthier families and communities.
Recognizing that a child's health and educational success are closely linked to the health and well-being of their family, we have continued to invest in programs that empower mothers with knowledge, skills, and support.
Building Healthy Families Through Education
Our Healthy Mothers Program currently includes four groups of mothers associated with the schools where we provide health education programming. These groups serve as a foundation for community engagement and provide a welcoming environment where women can learn, share experiences, and support one another.
Regular meetings bring mothers together to discuss topics that directly impact their families, including:
By providing practical health information in a supportive setting, we are helping mothers make informed decisions that benefit both their own health and the health of their children.
Strengthening the School-Community Connection
One of the unique strengths of this program is its direct connection to the schools we serve. The mother groups create an important bridge between the classroom and the home, reinforcing the health messages students receive through our school-based programming.
As children learn about nutrition, hygiene, and healthy habits in school, mothers are simultaneously receiving education and resources that allow those lessons to be reinforced at home. This coordinated approach creates opportunities for lasting behavior change and strengthens the overall impact of our work.
Empowering Local Leaders
The Healthy Mothers Program is about more than health education—it is about empowerment.
Many of the women who participate have become trusted voices within their communities. Through the program, mothers gain confidence in discussing health topics, supporting their families, and sharing knowledge with neighbors and friends.
As these women become community health advocates, the benefits of the program extend far beyond the participants themselves, reaching additional families throughout Santiago.
Looking Ahead
In the coming year, we plan to continue supporting and strengthening all four mother groups while exploring opportunities to expand participation and deepen the educational content offered.
Our goals include:
Thank You
The Healthy Mothers Program is possible because of the generosity of donors who believe that healthy families create stronger communities. By investing in mothers, you are helping improve the health and well-being of children, strengthen family support systems, and build sustainable community capacity.
Thank you for partnering with us as we continue this important work in Guatemala. Together, we are helping mothers gain the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to create healthier futures for their families.
With gratitude,
