Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America) is working to end child abuse and neglect by supporting families before they reach crisis.
Why does prevention matter? A child’s early experiences impact him or her throughout life.
Every experience a child has, whether good or bad, shapes their future. Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) come from safe, stable, and loving relationships that make children feel secure and valued. This helps mitigate the harmful effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), which can affect a child's health and well-being over time.
Parents, caregivers, relatives, teachers, community members, and neighbors all play a role in creating environments where children feel safe and cared for. The more PCEs a child experiences, the more likely they are to stay healthy and bounce back from challenges.
Learn more about Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) in this research paper co-authored by PCA America's Chief Strategy Officer, Jennifer Jones.
Prevention only happens in partnership and we couldn't do this important work without your support!
Donations to PCA America support our work to ensure children, parents, and caregivers have to access comprehensive family supports that promote economic stability and contribute to PCEs. An investment in PCA America is an investment in a child’s entire lifetime!
