Project Report: A Healthy Beginning for Every Mother in Pakistan
Every child deserves the chance to enter the world healthy, and every mother deserves the opportunity to experience pregnancy with dignity, proper care, and hope. Yet for thousands of women living in Pakistan's rural villages, pregnancy remains one of the most dangerous periods of their lives.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, 10 compassionate donors have already contributed $218 toward our $15,000 goal. Although we are still at the beginning of this journey, every dollar brings us closer to protecting vulnerable mothers and giving newborns a healthier start in life.
The Reality of Pregnancy in Rural Pakistan
Pakistan is home to thousands of remote villages where families depend on seasonal farming, daily wage labor, brick kiln work, or livestock for survival. Many households live below the poverty line, with limited access to quality healthcare, clean water, sanitation, and nutritious food.
For generations, women in these communities have carried the greatest burden of poverty. Pregnancy often takes place without regular medical checkups, skilled healthcare providers, or proper nutritional support. In many villages, the nearest health facility is several kilometers away, transportation is expensive, and families cannot afford the cost of repeated visits.
As a result, many expectant mothers continue heavy physical labor throughout pregnancy while eating only simple meals consisting mainly of bread, rice, or tea. Foods rich in protein, iron, calcium, fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, milk, and meat are often considered luxuries that struggling families cannot afford.
This nutritional gap can have devastating consequences. Many women develop anemia and other pregnancy-related complications that increase the risk of premature birth, low birth weight, birth complications, and maternal illness. In some of Pakistan's underserved rural areas, these challenges continue to affect mothers and newborns, particularly where healthcare services remain limited.
Behind every statistic is a mother who dreams of holding a healthy baby in her arms and a family hoping for a brighter future.
Why We Started This Project
Moses Welfare Foundation works closely with vulnerable communities across Pakistan and has witnessed these challenges firsthand. During our field visits, we have met pregnant women who skip meals so their children can eat first. Others continue carrying heavy loads or working in fields until the final weeks of pregnancy because they have no alternative source of income.
Many mothers tell us they have never received prenatal nutrition counseling or regular antenatal care. Some have lost previous pregnancies due to preventable complications, while others fear giving birth without adequate medical support.
These experiences inspired us to launch Healthy Beginnings: 9-Month Aid for 50 Mothers, a project designed to provide continuous support throughout pregnancy rather than only responding during emergencies.
What Your Support Will Provide
Throughout the nine-month pregnancy period, each mother will receive support tailored to her needs, including:
This holistic approach helps mothers stay healthier throughout pregnancy while improving the chances of delivering healthy babies.
Building Stronger Families
Healthy mothers create healthy families.
When a mother receives proper nutrition and prenatal care, her child has a better opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive. Families spend less on preventable medical emergencies, mothers recover more successfully after childbirth, and communities become stronger through healthier future generations.
Our goal is not only to support 50 pregnancies; it is to help break the cycle of poor maternal health that affects vulnerable families year after year.
Thank You for Believing in Mothers
To everyone who has donated, shared our project, or encouraged others to support this mission, thank you.
Your generosity is already bringing hope to women who have long been overlooked. Together, we can ensure that poverty does not determine whether a mother survives pregnancy or whether a child receives a healthy start in life.
Every healthy birth begins with compassion.
Together, we can give 50 mothers and 50 newborns the healthy beginning they deserve.
