Dear GlobeMed Friends and Family,
Since our last report, a new year has begun, and our chapter has grown in size with several new members bringing a diverse set of personalities, perspectives, and skills to the fold. We have thrown ourselves into the second half of our fundraising year, and hope that these updates on our progress excite you just as much as they empower us each and every day.
We bring you this update on the heels of our flagship event, the Hope in Health Annual Benefit Dinner, which just completed its 7th installment. This year’s event was our greatest yet, featuring our most diverse and large audience ever, three amazing performance groups that showcased Rochester’s multi-cultural flavor, and a keynote speaker dedicated to eradicating the effects of discrimination and socioeconomic status on students, both through education and practice. Our members worked hard to plan, execute and raise awareness for this fundraiser, and we hope that it serves as a beacon to guide all other groups in our university and local community towards fighting for global health equity.
In the meanwhile, our GROW interns are continuing to meet and plan for their upcoming trip as a team. They have journeyed to the National GlobeMed GROW Institute to complete their training and learn more about what they need to ensure this trip is successful and fulfilling for both our partner and us.
Our partner, SOVA, at present has just commenced its 5th rotation of the GDA training program, marking another group of young women who will have a chance to make a significant impact in changing both their own lives and those of their communities. We hope to record some of their successes during our upcoming GROW trip, and bring them back to share with ou all.
Lastly, we continue to work with other groups on campus to support and promote events like the World Day of Social Justice, where we discuss critical social justice issues that plague our world and brainstorm potential solutions. Through our newsletter and blog, we strive to communicate our message of empowerment and advocacy to our supporters, alumni, donors, and partners across the world.
We greatly appreciate your continued support, as it rejuvenates us and recharges our passion to fight for global health equity. Your donations directly influence the lives of these young women in Odisha and enable them to take more active steps in pursuing their own dreams as changemakers. So truly, thank you.
In Solidarity,
GlobeMed at the University of Rochester
