Project Report | Dec 27, 2022
Ubik 2022 - Manapiare delayed

By Sagrario Santorum | Head of development

The organization of a health mission includes a large number of activities such as:

a. Search for the team of medical specialists

b. Obtain the necessary medicines for the health day

c. Get medical and diagnostic devices

d. Food shopping and

e. Search for the team of bioanalysts.

f. Search for non-medical health personnel: pharmacists, nurses

g. Search for support staff: loading and unloading staff, logistics, kitchen, etc.

h. Organize the logistics of transporting health personnel, medicines, food, etc.

i. Search and purchase of the necessary fuel for the generating plants in the communities and for local transportation between the communities.

j. Organize the communities themselves for the correct implementation of the health day and to receive visitors from neighboring communities who want to be attended by medical specialists.

k. Organize the stay of the team of medical specialists in each community: where to sleep, eat, laundry service for their clothes, where they can bathe and their daily hygiene.

l. Organize the proper disposal of chemical and biological waste originated during the health day.

m. Organize and carry out Hilda Pérez's cancer treatment.

Of all these activities, there was one that we started, but we could not finish, which was the treatment for Hilda Pérez's cancer. Unfortunately, we did the first diagnostic tests for her illness and, when we were about to start her treatment, Hilda couldn't take it anymore and passed away, leaving an irreparable void in all of us.
When we had everything ready to carry out the health mission from October 31 to November 16, the rains began in the state of Aragua, causing heavy flooding and putting the army on alert. This caused the support we needed to transport all the personnel, medicines, medical and personal equipment, and food from Caracas to San Juan de Manapiare to be postponed until the emergency situation was concluded.
We had requested the support of the army's hercules plane to transport everything from Maracay to Manapiare. Just the strongest rains were in Maracay.
At this time, the rain forecast in the country is going to last for another month. It is estimated that the state of alert within the army will last until December 31st, which forces us to postpone the completion of the health day until January of next year.
