Thanks to your donations, and the contribution of various organizations such as PAHO Latin America, we have been able to bring medicines and medical care to 3 hard-to-reach indigenous communities of the Pemón people in Bolívar state (Pirmaken, Purpurken and Itüruka); and 4 indigenous communities (Botellón de agua linda, Gavilán, Alto Carinagua and Betania topocho) from the Jivi and Huöttuja peoples in the state of Amazonas.
The total number of people benefited was 1850 and the amount of medicines delivered was more than 600 kilos.
We have also held ecological film screenings to educate people in the communities about the great problem that illegal mining represents in terms of quality of life.
At this time, we are collecting donations to carry out a health mission to one of the most difficult to access areas in the entire state of Amazonas: Alto Ventuari.
To get to that place we will have to travel more than 900 kilometers by road to Puerto Ayacucho, take a plane for an hour and navigate, and even walk, for more than a week to reach one of the indigenous communities in that area.
We hope, with your help, to be able to provide medical care to more than 1000 people in that very isolated area during the month of January 2021.
