Dr. Volodymyr knows every street, every house, every door in his community. He has been caring for his neighbors in Ternuvate, a small town in Ukraine just 25 kilometers from the front line, for 32 years.
“This is my home. My patients are here. My family is here. My relatives are buried here,” he tells us.
Every Tuesday, he crosses a dangerous road to get to his clinic and treat nearly 3,000 people, including 400 who have fled their homes. He never hesitates: his place is with them, no matter what.
Now, with winter approaching, the cold threatens to close the clinic. The windows are broken, and without urgent repairs, it will be impossible to continue working when temperatures drop below freezing.
“The cold can be as deadly as wounds,” he says calmly. And yet, he has no intention of leaving.
His story reminds us that, even in the midst of war, one person's resilience can sustain the hope of thousands.
His commitment reflects the one we share with you: thanks to your support, Médicos del Mundo can accompany professionals like Volodymyr, repair damaged health centers, deliver essential medicines, and continue to stand by those who need it most.
Your solidarity makes it possible for hope to remain alive, even in the most difficult places.
