Children Sustainable Education Literacy and Alertness Initiative or CSELAI is Console Mission's (Co. Mi.) initiative under it, we planned to manage indoor games. In past test project, indoor games helped children to develop like playing in a team, playing together and hands and eye movements and also thinking capacities. There are 18 villages that are called wards where we are focusing to stop school dropouts. The problem is that parents are school dropouts, depends on agriculture in a land that is challenging because of the geography that is hill side. And moreover, they have to head to the cities to earn working in construction sites, factories or at someone's house. In this situation, children do not get guidance at home. And they go to school without learning at home or even incomplete assignments. Some children got scolded or punishment that becomes a reason to stop going to school. Therefore, our thought is "if children understand what they are learning, that will itself motivate them to continue going to school". At least we want to create a learning environment in the village communities. But children do not only like to study but they like to play and participate in activities that help them to be a part of the community.
Since CSELAI is our focused initiative, a programme, we pull budget from here and there to start on what we plan. In the last 3 months, we provided some funds to one school that is in one of the ward of our 18 village communities. This school has 104 students located at the top of the hill. Children walk every day 30 minutes to 1 and a half hour. But when school started, we insisted and encouraged teachers, to work close with the student, students are regular to school. And games are one tool to pull them and increase their interests.
We have not reached the target. Our plan is to provide 3 to each ward. School received it because we need to develop a club too that comes under our plan.
Challenges:
1. Political instability and government structure
2. Uneducated people in the essential levels who like the ideas of helping children but they are more into something like constructions of roads, constructions of religious and things that will attract tourists.
Looking forward:
1.) Develop communication with the 18 wards' chairman
2.) Develop and continue working with the volunteers, local volunteers from 18 wards
3.) Work together with the schools
