Thank you for supporting our community-designed climate solutions in Indonesia. We are pleased to announce that in the past few months, in collaboration, with our partner ASRI, we have made substantial progress towards our goals for 2024.
In April, our medical center in Sukadana (West Kalimantan) recorded 741 visits, and welcomed a new midwife to the team. Additionally, HIH’s mobile clinic provided care to 64 patients, offering home visits to patients with mobility challenges. In terms of preventative healthcare, we enhanced one of our community gardens to cultivate nutrition-rich plants like moringa. HIH’s baby vaccination program continued, with the team addressing parental inquiries regarding childhood immunizations.
Health In Harmony’s innovative approach of offering non-cash payments for healthcare not only allowed patients to access essential medical services, but also facilitated our reforestation efforts in Indonesia. In the first week of April alone, the HIH team purchased 2,933 seedlings from patients, which they used to offset their medical expenses. Throughout the entire month of April, we planted 14,000 seedlings, initiating the reforestation of eight hectares of land.
With your support, we already achieved so much and will focus on strengthening our staff capacity and infrastructure throughout 2024 in our current sites in Indonesia as well as bringing Radical Listening approach to three more local communities.
