Health Education for Low-Income Women in Bali

It’s been three months since the fire at Pasar Badung, where YRS is located. Pasar Badung has been completely closed. All the market activities were moved to a temporary location while waiting for the renovation or rebuilding. All the vendors at Pasar Badung were relocated to ex-Tiara Grosir. YRS built a temporary base clinic at second floor ex-Tiara Grosir. This temporary clinic will open for general health services. Our Sanur Clinic is now open from Monday to Friday from 9am until 2pm, we are increasing our involvement with the local community there.

We are now focusing more on mobile clinic program and outreach activities.

Mobile Clinic Program

To increase our mobile clinic program, on May we conducted three mobile clinics in Denpasar and Singaraja. The first mobile clinic in May was conducted at Pasar Sindu in Sanur on 13 May with 143 clients. On 20 May we also conducted a mobile clinic at Pasar Ketapian with 108 clients received medical services and education. At the end of May, we conducted a mobile clinic in Kaliasem Village to deliver services where YRS staff received 190 clients. The mobile clinic was very successful because the community felt very enthusiastic and comfortable.

Outreach Activities

Education program was delivered to 946 people at Tiara Grosir, Sanur and several other market around Denpasar on May. We are proud of this result because we can deliver information as many people as possible.

Portable Ultrasound Machine Services

We have purchased a portable Ultrasound Machine (USM) to increase our accuracy in detecting breast cancer and check for pregnancy. On April YRS staff participated in a technical training session for our Ultrasound Machine. Our staff will receive operational and basic diagnostic training on Saturday 25 June. This training will be trained by two doctors who are kindly flying from Singapore to Bali to donate their time and expertise.
