Kartini Day, which is held annually in Indonesia on April 21, honours Indonesian heroine Raden Ajeng Kartini who fought for equality between men and women. YRS commemorated Kartini Day by promoting its services and fundraising, educating the community through Peer Educators (PEs) activities, and in order to provide increased access to sexual and reproductive health services, it also conducted a mobile clinic.
Promotion and fundraising was conducted at Sunday Markets in two different locations, Café Batu Jimbar and Mercure Resort in Sanur, from 8am to 2pm. At these markets ceramics donated by ceramic company Jenggala were sold to raise funds for YRS, which will go towards education and medical services.
Also in commemoration of Kartini Day, PEs disseminated information to the market community about negotiation in choosing contraception methods with their partner/husband. Six Peer Educators participated and disseminated 77 educational materials (leaflets).
Still in the spirit of Kartini Day, in collaboration with Udayana University students and the local finance organization (koperasi), YRS provided its mobile clinic services to women in Intaran Sanur on April 26, from 7.30am to 10.30am. 81 clients received sexual and reproductive health medical services and 58 received educational services.
