Webinar Training Series 3
Webinar Training Series 3
  • Every month there is always something new at the Rama Sesana Foundation as well as this April. This month’s PE training is the 3rd of the YRS online PE program which was held on April 17, 2021, with participants consisting of housewives and teenagers. The topic for webinar series 3 is “Knowing menstruation and its disorders”.

The enthusiasm of the webinar participants was very high, as indicated by the many participants who were very active in asking questions and wanted to know more and more detail about the topic presented. Continued discussion in the WA group, in this discussion participants, may ask questions about health problem were not answered during the webinar. Every day during working hours’ participants may ask and share their concerns and every question will be answered by the staff with a detailed explanation.

As a follow-up to this webinar, participants are expected to share and educate other people about the topic in the webinar which is guided by an electronic pamphlet about the conclusion and important points about the educational topics in the webinar. From the pamphlet that is shared through social media, each participant always has new people who are willing to join with the intention to better understand women’s health problems, which is useful for themselves as well as their fellow women or the community where they are.

  • On April 20, 2021, the Rama Sesana Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries and Defense of the city of Denpasar held a one-day seminar on Catfish farming to the Peer Educators of the Rama Sesana Foundation. This training is a follow-up to the YRS program which provides support to PEs who have experienced the impact of corona which makes them have to stay at home.

To maximize and produce PE, the Rama Sesana Foundation hand an incentive program for PE which aims to provide productive activities for PE by cultivating the catfish so as to increase family income during this pandemic. Before holding this training the YRS team made an assessment and survey to ensure the commitment of each PE who would later be actively involved in this activity. YRS really hopes that in the future there will be support from external parties so that all PE can be involved in this program.

Furthermore, this training was held at the Freshwater Aquaculture UPDT in Denpasar City. In this training, the Fisheries office provided information on how to successfully cultivate catfish. Starting from the pond, how to release catfish, how to feed and how to sort them. Participants are very enthusiastic, it can be seen how the participants show attention when the officer explains, some of them even recorded it. The participants are also actively asked questions to the officer.

  • Rama Sesana Foundation has a PE (Peer Educator) or Peer program. At the present moment, YRS has 13 Peer Educators with various professions. One of the Peer Educators who has joined the Rama Sesana Foundation since 2017 is Mrs. Arini, she is a mother of 2 children. Even so, Mrs. Arini is still excited to be a cadre and still wants to share health information with the people around her.

Mrs. Arini narrated the story the first time of joining as cadre, “at that time when I was shopping in the market and meet one of the cadres of YRS, I was given an education about cervical cancer. From this education I am very interested in becoming a Peer Educator”. My motivation to join aa a cadre was because my mother died of cervical cancer and my sister has breast cancer. This is what motivates me to join as a cadre so I can share information with others. From my first meeting with one of the YRS cader, I routinely pap smear every year. I do invite my relatives, friends, and neighbors to have regular checkups.

The benefits that I got after becoming a cadre were so many; I become more concerned about my own health and that of others. Some people around me have already checked at YRS, even though I only gave the information to people around me that I got from YRS had a big impact on the health of others. As a cader, I am very proud to be able to help others and thank you YRS for sharing knowledge that is very useful for me and others”, said Mrs. Arini.

One of Mrs. Arini’s friend who was invited to have a check at the Rama Sesana Foundation was Mrs. KH. She said, “I learned about YRS from my friend Mrs. Arini who became a cadre at YRS. I came here because I had complaints about my breasts. It has been two months since I had health screening at YRS. Thank you to YRS now my complaints have improved and the staff is very kind to serve and provide health information to me. For mothers out there who want to do an early detection check, please come here before it’s too late”.
