In March along with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, YRS as the organization work in Health area, and the responsibility of the medical provider to continues to provide the medical services, although the work have highly risk to get infection from the patient or the health facilities. In this dangerous situation we have dilemmatic position as a medical provider.
YRS team keep in commitment to provide health services particularly to our direct beneficiaries of community around Pasar Badung and Pasar Intaran-Sanur. In this situation we realized the safety and protection is the priority. In other hand the availability of medical protection tools in the market are very rare, and some of medical store was no stock. This situation made our team to creative develop the simple Protection tools, but have enough function as a protection tools, so the services going to continue, and YRS team also under protection by the transmission.
The Government policy towards breaking the chain of transmission through social distancing makes YRS activities related to community outreach halted temporarily, the engagement of staff at risk of meeting many people was postponed.
As a solution to keep the YRS team productive, activities are carried out by working from the YRS secretariat to provide education to the community through online social media by paying attention to maintaining distance between staff when working. Besides that, we also train Peer Educator about general hygiene, how to maintain their health and protect themselves to increase people awareness about health in COVID-19 situation.
Because the Badung Market is a center for logistic and food trading, in this situation the buying and selling activities at the Badung Market are still running, even though the busyness is slightly decrease and the market visitors apply social distancing. Supporting facilities to protect and prevent the transmission are provided such as additional hand washing areas and disinfection rooms in the entrance gate for the market visitors.
We keep deliver mobile clinic service at Bangli Region in Tamblang village in COVID-19 situation. From these activities, more than 100 people received health services with 70 people received breast and cervical cancer screening.
