Greetings from STEPS NGO
STEPS NGO goal is to create Health awareness and treatment of diseases. With the STEPS team involvement in health programs in slums, inspiring the community towards the healthy behaviour.
Because of the seasonal diseases spreading among the children and school going children in slums, every day community health Workers under the guidance of ANMs and ASHAs are visiting the houses & schools extending necessary health care to the slum people. They are encouraging pregnant women and new mothers to seek health care and new born care.
Field Visit
Mr Veera Reddy Gandluru, member of Global Giving Field team, visited Srikalahasti on 04-06-2016.He visited the slums where STEPS NGO implementing project with the funds from donors through Global giving. He interacted with the beneficiaries and enquired about their health. He gave suggestions to improve the program activities and advised to design Micro projects in support of main activities.
During his visit he met Mrs. P.Ramalakshmamma aged 50 years, one of the beneficiaries of the program. She is selling vegetables in the market for her lively hood. When he enquired about her health, Ramalakshmamma explains
“I am better now and taking medicines. I am doing exercises regularly which helps me in free moving. Now I am going to market and selling vegetables. In the past I could not able to do any work but today after treatment and disease awareness by STEPS staff, I can earn money on my own and take care of my family.”
