Dear Donors
SEASONS’S GREETINGS AND WISH YOU A HAPPY & PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2013
Thank you for your support to provide medical services to the poor LF patients during the year 2012. We would like to convey our thanks to all our donors for their continuing support and faith in our work.
We have started this program from December 2011 and providing medicines and health checkups for 20 Filariasis patients. With the funds rose up to know, we can provide medicines to LF patients for one more month. Kindly consider donating again to continue this program at this festivity and also tell about this to your friends.
We feel happy to give more updates on the project.
Transmission control is important to eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis and this is achieved by mass annual drug administration of Diethyl carbamazine Citrate (DEC) by the STEPS Health Centre staff to entire communities living in slums who are at risk of infection. With this reduction of transmission of Lymphatic Filariasis new infections are prevented and protecting future generations from the disease.
Providing clinical checkups once in a month in the Health Centre. The Para medical staff during field visits advising chronic elephantiasis Patients to maintain hygiene and take necessary precautions to prevent secondary infection and aggravation of the disease condition. Educating and counselling the patients with Simple measures undertaken. They are 1.Washing the affected parts twice daily with soap and clean, cool water, and drying carefully 2.Raising the affected limb at night 3.Exercising the limb regularly 4.Keeping the nails and spaces between the toes clean 5. Wearing comfortable shoes 6.Using medicated creams or antibiotics to treat small wounds or abrasions.
Motivated by the clinical services provided by STEPS, many LF patients in this area requested us to enrol them in the program. For more number of beneficiaries, more funds are required. We would be able to help them only if we can raise enough funds. This project we have posted on the GlobalGiving Website. If required funds are raised, we will be able to help those deserving patients and they will be provided medicines and treatment. We strongly hope that your support is very crucial and you would continue showing the support in the days to come as well. We will be soon in touch with updates on the project and the beneficiaries.
Many thanks once again for all your support.
With warm regards
Dr.Mrs. Pedamalli Prameelamma
