Warm greetings from Face Up Generation Aid Organization (FUGAO).

We are pleased to share our latest progress report for the project “Health & Hope for Ethiopia's Displaced Mothers.” This initiative is dedicated to improving the health, well-being, and resilience of displaced mothers and their children who are facing severe challenges due to conflict, displacement, and economic hardship.

During this reporting period, the project has continued to deliver essential health services, psychosocial support, and livelihood assistance—helping vulnerable mothers regain stability, dignity, and hope for a better future.

Project Overview

The Health & Hope for Ethiopia's Displaced Mothers project focuses on addressing the urgent needs of displaced mothers and their children through integrated support services.

Key areas of intervention include:

  • Maternal and child healthcare support
  • Nutrition assistance for mothers and infants
  • Psychosocial counseling and emotional support
  • Livelihood assistance and income-generating opportunities
  • Awareness on hygiene, health, and child care

Our mission is to ensure that displaced mothers not only survive crisis conditions but also rebuild their lives with strength and resilience.

Progress So Far (January – March 2026)

During this reporting period, the project reached displaced mothers and vulnerable families in Addis Ababa and surrounding communities.

Target beneficiaries included:

  • Displaced mothers and pregnant women
  • Lactating mothers and infants
  • Women-headed households
  • Families with limited access to healthcare and nutrition

Major Achievements

1. Maternal & Child Health Support

  • Provided basic healthcare services to 1,200 mothers and children
  • Supported 350 pregnant and lactating mothers with maternal care services
  • Facilitated referrals to health facilities for critical cases

2. Nutrition Support

  • Distributed nutritional supplements to 900 mothers and children
  • Conducted awareness sessions on infant feeding and maternal nutrition
  • Promoted improved child health practices

3. Psychosocial Support

  • Provided counseling and emotional support to 600 mothers
  • Conducted group therapy and peer support sessions
  • Helped reduce trauma and stress among displaced women

4. Livelihood & Economic Support

  • Supported 150 mothers with small-scale livelihood opportunities
  • Provided training in income-generating activities
  • Encouraged financial independence and stability

5. Hygiene & Health Awareness

  • Reached 2,000+ individuals with hygiene and health education
  • Promoted sanitation, disease prevention, and child care practices

What’s Next? (April – June 2026)

In the next phase, FUGAO plans to:

  • Expand maternal and child healthcare services
  • Increase nutrition support for vulnerable families
  • Scale up psychosocial support programs
  • Provide livelihood support to more displaced mothers
  • Strengthen community-based health education initiatives
