Noemí was 7 months old when she entered into the program. She was severely malnourished, she couldn´t sit and she could stay quite for hours without crying or making any attemps to communicate with the teachers. The skills diagnosis showed that her motor and cognitive skills were lag.
Now she is 18 months old and she runs, plays, speak some words and laugh. It wasn´t an easy road, but we managed to improve her nutrition status and with the stimulation activities, little by little she begun to progress. We also work with the mother, we taught her about early childhood nutrition and the importance of stimulation.
We have many stories like this in "Arrumacos". The reason is that the mothers are in most cases alone with all the responsabilty, so they have to work hard to make a living, so the children stays under the care of an unfit person or they go with there mothers to work where they are left unattended.
We promote the importance of the first stage of life to have a proper development that it will have an influence for the rest of their lives.
Thank you Global Giving donors, for giving us the opportunity to keep working for the health and education of Children of Chiapas!
