COVID-19 has not stopped worldwide, in Mexico and in particular in San Cristóbal de las Casas, a contagion prevention program has been maintained, however, the economic crisis that afflicts the population becomes very strong every day.
The mothers of the children of Arrumacos have not yet recovered 100% of the work that supports their family, due to this, Melel maintains food support for the families of the children in the children's stay.
Due to the safety measures necessary for health care, the children's rooms are closed, so our work is carried out in home visits, telephone calls and recently, in public spaces, such as markets, where families work and They take children from 0 to 4 years old as "companions", through games, we know the situation they are in, socially, nutritionally and economically, so that if necessary, we provide medical referral support.
Faced with this reality, our work is reinvented every day, always for the benefit of indigenous children who need it most.
