Solace for the Children - Progress Report: Week 1

By Patsy Wilson | Executive Director of Solace for the Children

Sham waiting in Kabul to depart for treatment
Sham waiting in Kabul to depart for treatment

Thank you!  We are almost to the halfway point of our required number of 50 donors!  With the first $7,000 donated you will offer life to Afghan boy Sham, the son of a widow whose abdomen still has a now permanent gaping opening exposing his bladder.  While quite serious, this repair is possible through our partner medical teams!  Each dollar donated to get this child to the point of surgery will be transformed into 10 times that amount in treatment, care and nurture for this boy.  With the almost $2,000 you have already provided we will be able to care for him in Kabul until funds are received for his travel for surgery with a Solace interpreter.  This will free his mother return home to farm.  With 3 other children waiting at home, she must farm to provide food for the winter.

The Solace Project stand today as #21 on the leader board with more than one hundred projects in the GlobalGiving April Challenge.  You can help give Shamsullah health by sharing this project with everyone you know!  Invite everyone to join us as we build peace on a foundation of health!

In deepest gratitude for your support!
