Uplifting Marginalized Girls in the DRC

By AHADI | CORDINATOR

Street-connected children live with wounds that are often invisible. Many have experienced abuse, neglect, abandonment, exploitation, violence, and prolonged insecurity. While food, clothing, and shelter remain essential, these forms of assistance alone cannot address the psychological trauma that keeps many children trapped in survival mode. The Heal Trauma of Street Children project was created to address this deeper need by providing trauma-informed psychological support, a safe and predictable environment, social reintegration, and opportunities for vocational development. Our long-term vision is to help children recover their sense of safety, rebuild trust, regain hope, and move toward healthy and independent adulthood.

The project has an estimated budget of US$70,000. To date, we have not yet raised funds, but we are actively mobilizing resources to make the project possible. We are currently in the preparation and identification phase, including identifying qualified trainers and potential learners who will participate in the program. The project was initially planned to begin in November 2025, and we are working to secure the resources needed for implementation. Through our collaboration with GlobalGiving, we believe we can significantly strengthen our fundraising efforts and reach the financial goal required to serve these vulnerable children.

Every contribution can help create a safe space where a child can begin to heal rather than simply survive. Our approach focuses on understanding trauma instead of punishing trauma-related behavior, helping children process painful experiences, rebuild relationships, develop practical skills, and prepare for a more stable future. We invite individuals, foundations, companies, and organizations around the world to stand with us and invest in a generation that deserves more than survival. Thank you to GlobalGiving for providing a platform that connects local action with a global community of people who care. And thank you to every donor and supporter who chooses to believe that healing is possible. Together, we can help turn invisible wounds into renewed hope and give street-connected children a real opportunity to thrive.
