Project Report: Advancing Community-Led Plastic Waste Management in Uganda
We are pleased to share progress on our ongoing initiative to combat plastic pollution while empowering local communities across Uganda.
This project is focused on equipping community leaders and organizations with the tools, knowledge, and systems needed to effectively manage plastic waste. Through structured plastic waste collection, sorting, and recycling efforts, we aim to significantly reduce environmental pollution while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities.
So far, we have made meaningful strides:
Community Engagement: We have actively engaged local leaders and organizations to champion plastic waste management in their communities.
Waste Collection Impact: Together with community members, we have successfully collected tons of plastic bottles, contributing to cleaner neighborhoods and a healthier environment.
Systems Development: Plans are underway to establish community-based and institutional collection centers, as well as recycling hubs to ensure long-term sustainability.
Capacity Building: We are working toward forming and training local recyclers, helping to formalize their work and providing technical support to meet recognized recycling standards.
Awareness Campaigns: Community outreach efforts are ongoing, promoting behavioral change and encouraging responsible waste disposal practices.
We are also grateful to share that we have received $60 in support from a recurring donor. This contribution is already helping to drive impact on the ground.
Special thanks to our monthly donor for continued generosity and belief in our mission. Your support is making a tangible difference in keeping our environment clean and empowering communities.
As we move forward, our focus remains on scaling these efforts, strengthening community systems, and building a more sustainable and pollution-free Uganda.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support and share our work.
