Marie has completed her first year of her Masters in Education. She did it with flying colors.
Marie also found time to volunteer as an English teacher for adults with Spanish as their native tongue. This I found very inspiring. Her a native of Haiti, the poorest country in western hemisphere, a native Kreyol speaker, is teaching English to Spanish speaking adults. That is a testament to the teachablity of even the poorest of the poor. GIven the chance at education they will thrive and absorb and share.
I have for many many years quoted an old Indian saying. "A gift is not a gift until it has been given twice". This has been my motto and philosophy of life for as long as I can remember. What we have, we have been given as a gift. Who we are is also a gift, not for ourselves, but a gift to be shared with others.
Marie is an excellent example of the type of student and person HEAR recuits and aids in their pursuit of knowledge, education and life experience. Your donations help us with this mission.
Our current goal is to raise the funds to fill the gap between scholarship funds and living expenses. For Marie that is approximately $6,000 for the next year.
Our secondary goal is to work with the next two candidates for the HEAR scholarships who are in the application process for January, 2018. Your assistance here will help pay for passports, visas, immunizations, testing fees, etc. and is estimated at $1,000 per student.
Our final goal is to raise an additional $3,000 to assist in in-country scholarships for students needing assistance with school tuitions, books and supplies.
With your help I am sure we will be able to raise $11,000.
Please note that 100% of you donation goes directly to those in need.
Thank you for your generosity.
