Good Afternoon.
We hope that this update reaches you in good health and enjoying the early days of Spring.
We have some exciting news to share with you. Our board recently decided to expand our mission in part to address the requests we are getting from schools, universities and others in Haiti.
Our mission has been to bring young Haitian scholars to the US to study for their master degrees. We have been successful through our relationship with Concordia University in Portland, Oregon and have graduated MBAs and M.Eds and currently have another MBA candidate study on line. This approach has not worked as well as we had hoped so Natacha will be moving to Portland to finish her dergree next year.
The expansion stems from converations with the president of Notre Dame Universities of Haiti and a few high schools in Haiti. The desire is to continue offering graduate scholarships and add a few undergraduate scholarships in the US and begin to look at ways, means and funds to offer scholarships to NDUH. NDUH now has seven campuses, so students no longer have to leave home and move to Port au Prince to study. They also have expanded their offerings to include agriculture, engineering, bio-engineering, education, nursing, business and more.
The cost for a years tuition in Haiti is approximately $3,000. The cost for one scholarship student in Portland is approximately $5,000. We are already in conversatons with other NGOs and non-profits, such as NCompass, Help4Haiti, New Life Ministries, NDUH and more to find ways to collaborate with them and their students.
