VIDEO UPDATE – 1 Year After Earthquake
After a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti's southwestern region in August 2021, Habitat for Humanity responded quickly to provide shelter assistance and humanitarian support. Post-earthquake assessments found that of the more than 300 Habitat homes built in the region in the wake of Hurricane Matthew five years prior, 98% of them were safe to live in following the earthquake. In this video, hear from disaster impacted community members and partner families about the support received in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake (e.g. shelter kit distributions) and their experiences living in Habitat’s disaster resilient homes.
