The Musical Youth Foundation has been as busy as ever over the last few weeks. Our annual City Soul Picnic event took place on July 26th & 27th in the beautiful surroundings of Merrion Square Park in the heart of Dublin City. Launched in 2007 as part of the Dublin City Soul Festival the Soul Picnic is a music concert in a picnic style. The event is free to attend though adults are asked to donate what they can afford to the Musical Youth Foundation. Dontions of €5. or more were rewarded with free entry in our Instrumental Art raffle. Check out some of the happy winners here!
Over the course of the two day event some of Ireland's best musicians took to the stage to support the MYF while members of the public donated a total of €5,538. which will help to sustain our music education projects across 7 centres in September/October. A big THANK YOU to everyone who made a donation!

Post festival we've been putting our energy into upcycling old floor toms into super cool and totally unique side tables and we're also currently working on transforming an old bass drum into a coffee table along with an old broken Marshall guitar speaker.
To reward our supporters we're giving anyone who donates €5. or more during August/September free entry into a draw for a cool upcycled drum side table. The draw will take place during the Soul Kitchen radio show on 103.2 Dublin City FM and online via www.dublincityfm.ie on October 2nd 2014 between 10pm - 11pm (gmt).

Meanwhile our MYF students have been on their school summer break, they've been relaxing and practising while we've been busy making plans for the new school term which kicks off in September.
We are also delighted to report that we've had our first group of students complete their school Leaving Certificate examinations. They've just received their results and are applying for college places - we're so proud of all of them.
Remember these are kids that were actively planning on leaving school early and had no thoughts of third level education until the MYF came along and inspired them with our music education programmes. They will be the first in their families to attend third level education. We'll keep you updated on their progress over the coming months.
We need your help to support them during this process and to continue funding our current music education programmes. Please make a donation to the Musical Youth Foundation, we urgently need your support!!!
Don't forget you can always contact our Founder & CEO Chris Maher with questions or queries you may have. Just email info@musicalyouthfoundation.org.
That's all for now, more news next month!
