Leidy's family is of scarce economic resources. She is the youngest of four children. Her family does not have the support of her father, who abandoned them when she was very young. However, her mother has made many efforts to provide for the family, like selling tortillas and tamales.
This particular circumstance limits Leidy's possibilities to continue her studies; however, and despite poverty, her mother makes many efforts to support Leydi's education.
Leidy says she is very happy and grateful because thank to you, she will receive financial support to continue her high school studies.
Plan International, through the scholarship project for secondary education, is supporting Leidy for the second year in a row to continue her studies. This support makes her very happy because this is part of her struggle to achieve her dreams. “I have used my scholarship fund to buy a pair of shoes, the uniform and the payment of five installments of the school. I am very grateful because, for my family, the support we receive from Plan is very valuable” says Leidy.
Leidy is aware that education transforms lives. She is very motivated to be a distinct student at her school and will strive to become a professional, work hard and help her family. She says “my dream is to graduate as an elementary school teacher, earn a bachelor's degree, and become a lawyer and notary public”.
