Since making the initial deposit to acquire and protect this land, Guåhan Sustainable Culture (GSC) has been working to transform the former Hamamoto Gardens into Guåhan’s first Food Resiliency Hub. As we continue to engage and grow our community of supporters to secure the land permanently, we are motivated by the tremendous potential of this special place. And while there's more work to do, GSC’s mission of strengthening local food security has already brought renewed energy and excitement, both to the land itself as well as to the communities we serve.

In just a few short months, our Food Resiliency Hub has become home to many of GSC’s programs. Several times a week we’ve host elementary school students for youth education fieldtrips, helping raise the next generation of growers by sharing cultural knowledge and skills around sustainable agriculture practices. The space has also hosted our composting workshops, where we’ve engaged participants about the importance of diverting food away from our landfill and into nourishing our gardens and farms. And recent events like the Mariana Islands Conservation Conference and the Conference on Island Sustainability have also given us the opportunity to offer tours and share our vision for the Food Resiliency Hub.

Your contribution is helping us realize the potential of this special space, and represents a critical investment in Guåhan’s food security. Our team is humbled by your generosity and grateful for your support.
