Growing our school in DR Congo

In rural areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo, education can be the difference between a child remaining trapped in poverty and a young person building a more secure future. Orphaned and vulnerable children face some of the greatest barriers: school fees, lack of learning materials, inadequate facilities, limited access to nutritious food, and few opportunities to develop practical skills. Girls are particularly vulnerable to dropping out. DYJEPREDHU asbl is committed to changing this reality by providing safe, inclusive, and high-quality primary, secondary, and vocational education where children can learn, grow, and prepare for a better future.

The project has a total funding goal of $100,000. At this stage, no funds have yet been raised, and the organization is in the preparation and resource-mobilization phase. Work is underway to identify qualified trainers and prospective learners and to prepare the conditions needed for effective implementation. The planned program will combine classroom education with practical vocational training in areas such as carpentry, tailoring, and computer skills. Students will also benefit from school supplies, nutritious meals, clean water, libraries, learning facilities, and access to basic health and well-being support. These activities are designed to address not only the educational needs of children, but also the social and economic barriers that often prevent vulnerable children from completing school.

Our goal is to create lasting opportunities for children who have too often been left behind. By strengthening access to education and practical skills, the project aims to help young people continue their studies, access employment, start small businesses, and contribute positively to their communities. We also want to build an environment where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to believe in their own abilities. The expected impact extends beyond individual students: when a child gains an education and a practical skill, an entire family can gain hope and a community can gain a future leader, teacher, entrepreneur, or skilled professional.
