Project Report | Oct 17, 2017
Fall 2017 Update

By Daniel Chmielewski | Project Adminstrator

Dear Friends and Supporters of Hidden Villa,

We are happy to report to you all that our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program is doing very well. The summer months went by without any big problems from pests or lack of water and the farm has been bursting with fresh food. The CSA Subscribers have started to receive their first baskets of fall produce, which includes squash, greens, potatoes, beets, leeks, onions, the last of the tomatoes, a lot of eggplant, apples, peppers, pears, and much more.

This summer, the CSA Program worked with over 15 local Bay Area Companies that volunteered on the farm to help our farmers with their work. The volunteers came to help plant, prune, mulch, harvest, and weed the rows of crops that we grow on the farm. Their volunteer support really makes the farm grow and puts the "Community Supported" into the CSA program! If you want to bring your team out to Hidden Villa to volunteer, please contact Daniel at daniel@hiddenvilla.org.

The CSA program's Healthy Foods, Healthy Families partnership with the Community Services Agency of Mountain View has never been stronger. We are rounding the seasonal corner pretty soon and our farm manager, Jason, is busy planning which crops to grow during the winter to continue donating fresh, organic produce to the local food bank to ensure accessibility to the most vulnerable in our community. This will be the first winter season that Hidden Villa will ensure donations of our produce continue coming in to support those in need.

We also want to announce that Hidden Villa held a new fundraising event in September to raise funds for the Healthy Foods, Healthy Families partnership with the Community Services Agency of Mountain View. The first ever Fiddles & Fun on the Farm: A Family Fundraiser was held on Saturday, September 23 and had over 200 people come out to support Hidden Villa and the partnership. The event attendees enjoyed an evening of dancing with live music, fresh Hidden Villa farm food, and a silent auction. With this event, we were able to raise over $7,500 to support the Healthy Foods, Healthy Families partnership.

We want to thank all of our donors for their continued, monthly support of this partnership. If you know people in your own community that want to support our program or volunteer with us, please forward this opportunity their way! We look forward to providing those in need with the freshest organic produce that they can find from their very own community.
