We are excited to share with you updates about our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and our "Healthy Foods, Healthy Families" partnership with the Community Services Agency of Mountain View!

To begin, the rainy season is coming to an end out here in the Bay Area of California. This season's rain total is roughly 3/4 of the annual rain fall of a regular year and has provided us with ample amounts of water to start the growing season on the right foot. Jason, our farm manager, has been busy training the new batch of CSA interns, tilling the cover crop into the soil, and planting crops for spring and early summer. Volunteers have been busy working with our CSA farm crew every Wednesday to support the work that goes into the farm - including transplanting from the green house into the fields, mulching around the base of the fruit trees in the orchard, and weeding the rows and rows of crops.

Our "Healthy Foods, Healthy Families" partnership is now in its 12th year. Last yera (2017) was the first year that we donated produce every week throughout the entire year. All in all, Hidden Villa's Community Supported Agriculture program donated over 10,000 pounds of fresh, organic, nutrient dense produce to our low income community members. This partnership is a critical line of support for families in our surrounding community because of the rising housing and food costs of this area. Many families are living paycheck to paycheck and having a local farm (like Hidden Villa) ensure accessibility to their organic produce is a comforting reality.

Your support for our Growing Healthy Families project goes directly into funding the "Healthy Foods, Healthy Families" partnership with the Community Services Agency of Mountain View. Thank you!

If you're interested in volunteering with our Community Supported Agriculture program on Wednesdays, please contact our volunteer manager at volunteers@hiddenvilla.org

See you on the farm!
