Project Report | Jan 29, 2018
January 2018

By Daniel Chmielewski | January 2018 update

We are happy to report to you all that our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program had a great 2017 year. Our CSA program provided over 50,000 servings of organic produce to the Community Services Agency of Mountain View through our partnership, “Healthy Foods, Healthy Families.” This is the first year in which Hidden Villa has produced food throughout the winter to continue donating high value, organic, fresh produce to our low income community members. The support of donors from our local community and the broader community (like you) make it possible for Hidden Villa to dedicate a large portion of the farmland and staff expertise to ensuring our local food security.

For the upcoming 2018 growing season, we look forward to a strong spring growing season and summer burst of food. We are already getting started on planting the next batch of produce! Our farm intern, Chloe Lemons, is featured in the photo planting garlic. She was busy this past week planting onions, garlic, potatoes, and a lot of mixed greens. In a few weeks, the CSA program will transplant the veggies that are growing in the green house out into the farm fields with the help of ongoing volunteers and volunteer support from local companies.

We look forward to growing food this year and can’t wait to update you in the spring! We want to thank all of our donors for their continued, monthly support of this partnership. If you know people in your own community that want to support our program or volunteer with us, please forward this opportunity their way! We look forward to providing those in need with the freshest organic produce that they can find from their very own community.
