Summary

Biodegradable Plastic Bags Project is a social Enterprise that empower women and girls in Tanzania with the skills to produce affordable, environmentally friendly bglags. The project address plastic pollution by promoting sustainable alternatives to single -use plastic bags while creating green livelihood opportunities. It will strengthen women's economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, environmental conservation, and responsible waste management, contributing to healthier community and ecosystem

Challenge

The main problem is the increasing use of plastic packaging bags and unsustainable management of plastic waste after use. That affects millions of animal ls ever year l, from birds to fish to other marine organisms. Nearly 709 species, including endangered ones, are known have been affected by plastics. Nearly every species of seabird eats plastics. Since the 1990s,there has been an increase the plastic packages being placed on the markets. Tanzania uses over 2 billion plastic bags yearly.

Solution

The project will address plastic pollution by producing affordable, environmentally friendly biodegradable bags as alternatives to single-use plastic. It will train women and young people in bag production, entrepreneurship, environmental conservation and sustainable waste management. Promoting biodegradable alternatives community awareness, to reduce plastic waste, protection wildlife sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Long-Term Impact

The project will reduce dependence on single-use plastic bags by promoting sustainable packaging alternatives. It will create green livelihood opportunities for women and girls, strengthen entrepreneurship, improve waste management and environmental awareness and reduce plastic pollution. Produce and adoption grow and establish a sustainable green enterprise model that can be replicated in communities across Tanzania.
