Intergenerational dialogue solidifies the role of

This success offers several important lessons for future programs which aim to promote change in communities in favour of girls, boys, and women:

In African communities, elders have status and power over younger generations and determine the social norms that structure family and community life. When approached respectfully and through dialogue, elders are not automatically opposed to change.

Communities are more open and engaged with programs that adopt an approach in which positive roles, values and practices are encouraged and reinforced, while harmful ones are discouraged.

In the las 3 month we have been working to integrate positive cultural values into classrooms making schools more culturally relevant to children and families.

We have reached the following participants in the past three (03) months activities:

5 primary schools conducted sessions on values education with 599 students 6 storytelling sessions were organized in 4 community radios during the quarter, 1,851 community members participated in vacation activities 2 workshops were organized with the participation of 74 teachers

In the next quarter we look forward to strengthening the knowledge and confidence of community leaders and groups to prevent and solve problems on their own specifically child & forced marriages.

We intend to reach 646 grandmother leaders, 250 community leaders, 2,135 mothers, 3,000 young girls and 856 young boys 158 community members, including grandmothers, mothers, teachers, community and religious leaders and young girls and boys participated in 5 Intergenerational Forums.

Your support makes these types of pivots possible in our work, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

 With gratitude,
