Grain for Good: YAMNA's Women-led Coop in Morocco Project Update
Since the campaign began, we have continued to scale up our efforts to provide YAMNA Cooperative with pre-milled, nutrient-rich oats. We have reached approximately 6000 meals. Additionally, we have been working closely with local women entrepreneurs to incorporate these oats into traditional dishes, making them more widely accepted in the community. Training sessions on sustainable agriculture and business management have also been conducted to further empower these women.
One of the most inspiring stories from this campaign is that of Sakina Soukrat, a dedicated breeding specialist and a key partner in the YAMNA-RCAL Grain for Good Campaign. Sakina has been instrumental in ensuring that RCAL’s improved oat varieties reach families in need. Through her work at YAMNA’s cooperative, our goal 1.8-tonne donation will help feed 133 families for a month or 4,000 families in a single day. By combining her expertise with local knowledge, Sakina is bridging the gap between agricultural innovation and community impact.
To expand our reach and fulfil our goal of producing 60,000 meals, we are actively seeking additional funding. We have engaged with family donors to secure matching donations, bringing us closer to our target. With your continued support, we can ensure that more people gain the resources they need to build a healthier, more sustainable future for their families and communities. Thank you for being a part of this mission!
