Challenge

In Pavas, Costa Rica, nearly 40% of adolescent girls drop out of secondary school, increasing their risk of unemployment by age 18 due to lack of qualifications. Many come from households facing poverty and economic instability, forcing them to prioritize income or caregiving over education. These barriers severely limit their chances for economic independence and long-term career development. However, access to scholarships-critical for helping girls stay in school-remains very limited.

Solution

Provide a 12th-grade classroom at Suri Technical High School with essential technology, furniture, and learning materials to support hands-on training in Commercial Management and Customer Service. The project will also strengthen scholarships that help vulnerable girls stay in school. Together, these efforts will create a real-world learning environment while reducing financial barriers. This will prepare young women to graduate job-ready and access meaningful employment.

Long-Term Impact

This project will directly benefit about 100 12th-grade students from the technical program at Suri Technical High School in Pavas, Costa Rica, enabling them to graduate with job-ready skills and access meaningful employment. By combining quality technical education with scholarships, it addresses key educational and financial barriers. Over time, participants will increase their earning potential, break cycles of poverty, and strengthen their families and communities.
