‘Use of Mental Health Counselling as Adolescents become Adults’
Adolescence is a critical period for mental, social and emotional wellbeing and development.
Adolescents are the greatest resource for a society to thrive.
As adolescents become adults mental health counselling is imperative to equip then with better coping skills.
Seema (name changed to conceal identity) is a 20 year old woman with an 8 month old baby. She came to AWAG’s counselling centre and expressed that she faced a lot of harassment from her husband and in-laws. Having lost her parents at the age of 2 years she had nobody to vent her feelings. Throughout her initial visit, she appeared to be tensed and fearful. She voiced that she was experiencing the following symptoms:
The counsellee went through periodic counselling sessions at AWAG. Over a period of time, Seema felt more comfortable and composed to move forward in life.
