Play City, The Children's Scrappy News Service runs on TV, online & on the ground in 1,200 schools in the city of Mumbai. Powered by scrapbooks made of up-cycled, recycled & sustainable materials, children in Grade 6-8 re-design places to play to become sustainable, multi-sport pitches made with local materials, surrounded by vertical urban farms and lit at night by solar energy. Girls & boys play football together as they action their design-thinking skills to take on Climate Change.
There are 100 sports pitches in government schools or next to, that are opportunities for children to action their sustainable design skills to make multi-sport pitches so girls and boys can play football together, learn sustainable skills and take on Climate Change in the city.
Play City equips children with the sustainable design skills they need to be able to remake sports pitches. Our MoU with the City enables us to put children's design-thinking into action by physically remaking the sports pitches, sustainably, and ensuring that children learn 26 skills to take on and reverse Climate Change in the city.
100 sports pitches are remade sustainably and girls, boys play team sports together, at school. In 1,200 Government schools, one million children learn the skills they need to take action on Climate Change and make a big difference in Mumbai and challenge other cities of children to make sustainable places to play to take on Climate Change.
