Though our Livestock Guardians are all part of a big fluffy family, we wanted to showcase a very special furry friendship, Bear and Garda.
Bear along with two buddies were picked up as strays by Animal Services in June of 2023. A former owner came to the shelter, identified who he gave the three dogs to and he took one home, leaving Bear and one buddy at the shelter. The buddy was quickly adopted, but Bear remained. At the request of one of our team members, we agreed to exit Bear from the shelter.
Garda arrived at the ranch in 2023 with Dealla and Cahira. The three were part of a larger group that were abandoned on Palomar Mountain in northern San Diego County. They were all extremely fearful and unable to be handled. We were their last chance before euthanasia.
What a transformation! These Great Pyrenees have truly blossomed at the ranch. They have become much more comfortable with humans and a big part of their growth is thanks to Bear.
Garda found his other half. These two boys may not have arrived together, but they are as close as brothers.
They love to play and run together. They love a good walk, greeting ranch residents along the way. These boys are always together. Bear has helped Gardo come out of his shell and Garda is so much more comfortable around people.
Thank you for allowing us to bring these two together. Your compassion allows us to provide quality care for our pack of Livestock Guardian dogs. It is thanks to you that they have a safe, happy home with wonderful friends to spend their days with.
